Evangelical Confusion

The contemporary evangelical world is engulfed in the idea that the church is presently experiencing the messianic kingdom. The idea of the “kingdom” can be bewildering, especially considering how this term is loosely bandied about by today’s evangelicals. Many ministries convey the notion that the kingdom is strictly a spiritual and present reality by indicating that they are “expanding the kingdom” through their evangelistic and missionary endeavors. Just When You Think It Cannot Get Worse!

“There was a great famine in Samaria; and behold, they besieged it, until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a fourth of a kab of dove’s dung for five shekels of silver.” (2 Kings 6:25, NASB95)

 

It is indeed a great famine when a donkey’s head sells for 80 shekels of silver and “a fourth of a kab of dove’s dung” costs five shekels on the open market!  A kab is roughly equal to two quarts, thus making your dove dung purchase come to a cup or so of this unique seasoning! More… →
